Hi John,
Good news! The band teacher at the HS called Reagan last night and asked her if she wanted to be in the top HS band – she was really excited
Thanks,
Mary
Hi John,
Thank you for your compliment of Andrew. He has thoroughly enjoyed the lessons, and I'm glad to know you will welcome him back when our lives are less busy. Last night, Andrew picked out the notes to play the Christmas song, Winter Wonderland. He was very pleased with himself and then began picking out notes to other Christmas songs like I Saw Three Ships and Do You hear What I Hear? Without your help. he would not have made the progress he has, so thank you very much.
Sally
John,
We met with Justin’s band teacher at parent teacher conferences. He said he could tell a noticeable improvement in Justin’s trumpet playing. It is all thanks to you. I will be contacting you next summer to keep it going.
Thank you!!

Hello John,
I was pleasantly surprised that Scott chose trombone lessons over his D&D club which he takes very seriously. He had a concert Tuesday night and I could tell just from watching him that he has made a huge improvement in his playing since he started lessons. He had his eyes on his band teacher when he wasn't playing and his posture has made huge improvements. His confidence in playing has also doubled and his interest in practicing his trombone has made huge improvements. Thank you so much for that!

Hi John,
Your performance was wonderful and Reagan was in aww – she loved it all and practiced a ton over the weekend!  Very, very well done!  Congrats on a great performance!

John,
Isaac was the only one who got into the top level in jazz camp...he must have a pretty good teacher!
Joanna Frek
Mr. King,
By the way, thank you so much for helping me prepare my audition! It went pretty well yesterday.

Hey John
Nikita was offered a spot in Colorado Youth Symphony!  Thanks for all your help!
Jeff Heitz

John,
Nikita did well on his scales and audition piece.  He will sit next to a very fine high school trombonist (in Colorado Youth Symphony).  Great kid too.  I think it will be very good for him.  Great job John.

Hi, John,

That is exciting, and I am very proud of you!
You have a great future in music.

John
Dear John,
I wanted to let you know that I made it into the CU HS Honor Band! Thank you so very much for all your help with the audition. Your training has enabled me to reach all the goals I have set for myself as a freshman in HS. I look forward to working more with you in the future — I am looking forward to what the future holds. I am so excited for this opportunity!

Thanks again,

Ellie
John,
Thanks for all the great lessons and encouragement for Benjamin since we started with you this summer. The school Band Director released the results of the chair auditions today, and Benjamin was awarded first chair for the Concert Band (comprised of the middle school students). I have seen a lot of improvement in his tone and work ethic in his devotion to practicing the past couple of months under your instruction - we look forward to many more lessons with you.
Sincerely,
Amy Mather

Hi John,
Sorry for the late response and thank you very much for the lessons you gave Charlie and Leo!!!
Charlie really enjoyed your lesson and he said it was really fun and liked the way you teach!!!
I'm so glad that we've met each other and Charlie has found a teacher that he would like to study trumpet with.
Thank you very much again!!!

Hi John, We wanted to let you know that Ellie made 2nd trumpet in the Symphony Winds at Colorado Honor Band. This is what she had hoped for for this year - so she is quite pleased. Thank you again for all of your help getting her ready for auditions. Down the road she may consider auditioning for DYAO, but at the moment, CHBA Symphony Winds is a nice balance with her soccer. Thanks again, Susan, Eric and Ellie
John,
Colter has thoroughly enjoyed you and the lessons.  Thank you very much for all the help you have given him.  It is great to see him progress (and so quickly with you).
Thanks!
Elizabeth Paul
John,
I wanted to let you know that we will be moving August 12th.  As such, I am hoping that Colter's last lesson will be August 11th.  He has improved so much and he is really sad that he will be leaving marching band and lessons with you.  Thank you very much for all you have done with Colter.  We have seen great improvement in his playing and he enjoys it very much.
Thanks!
Elizabeth Paul
Thanks for giving me the reminder on air/breathing last night.  Focusing on that again in practice and the difference in results is just amazing.  So hard to break bad habits.  Kinda like golf!
Kyle

Danny has benefited from your lessons greatly and they made a big difference to his HS playing career, we're extremely grateful and we've been very pleased.
Thank you so much for all your help over the years, we truly appreciate it and will continue to refer people to you.
Thanks again Stephanie and
Bruce Bryant

Thanks!  Jake felt very happy and motivated after his lesson today.  He needs to keep hearing that he's doing well from you and me to stay pumped about it!  He says you are a very good teacher!!  Kara

Hi Mr.King,
Just wanted drop you a quick note to let you know how much we appreciate all the instruction, encouragement, and challenge you give Camden.

She was SO excited Monday to explain to me the things about her cup mute you showed her. Remember, I did tell you that music is her thing and I am of essentially no help. I just bought the product that I figured would last and she had to wait until Christmas to receive it as a gift. You are the one that has now instructed her to use it properly.

Her band instructor is great. However, Camden continues to improve and learn so much from you that she could never gain in a class of 45 students. Thank you for keeping her passion alive and growing.
Wendy Gruchow

John,
I wanted to let you know that Chase made it into Wind Ensemble. He was quite thrilled! You definitely played a part in that and I wanted to thank you. Your work with him has really payed off and it is so nice to see it all coming together for him. So thank you!  For some kids it football...others it is the trumpet! He may not be the best one in the band, but it really brings him so much happiness and I love that he has found his "thing". We celebrated with cheesecake! So kudos to you too!
Thanks again,
Michele

Hi John,

I wanted to tell you that you have really helped Amanda a ton in learning to play the French horn.  At the end of the school year, her band teacher gave her one of the two coveted band awards for the year!

Thanks,

Hi John,
Gregory Gates (Band/Orchestra director for Columbine area) told us that: "Joseph could probably start out in advanced band this semester. I think that would keep him a bit more challenged than the beginning band, which wouldn't get to where he is at until December. He told me he wanted to do band and I would be glad to have him." This is a huge step for Joseph!

Hi Mr. King,
This is Delia Chan from Atlanta, GA. I used to take lessons from you while I was in California while I was living in Cupertino. I no longer live in California. I moved to Atlanta in 2003. My life here is very different than when I was in California. I am now 36. Haven't times gone by quickly? I was only a freshman in high school when I first started trumpet lessons with you. I
was able to improve my trumpet technique a lot! Doing lip slurs, double and tripple tounging.  I even went as far as solo ensemble. One college professor was quite impressed when I had been playing trumpet for only ten months. That was when I went to a summer camp. He just couldn't believed that I could play the chromatic scale so well.
Anyway, the reason I am e-mailing you is because I was wondering if you know of any good trumpet teachers in the bay area. I have a half-sister who will be moving to Sunnyvale with my older brother in the fall. She will be starting DeAnza.  I am in the process of looking for a trumpet teacher for her. If you know of any, please let me know. Thanks!!
Delia

John,  I just wanted to thank you again for your wonderful musicianship and positive attitude!  You are a joy to work with.  Thanks again for making yesterday a success! Have a great day!
